Dear Swoop,
As you embark on your final flight, we want to take a moment to honor the legacy you’ve left behind. Your years as the heart and feathered soul of South Bend baseball have been nothing short of spectacular. Whether you were strutting your stuff on the baseline or spreading your wings in celebration, you were the true MVP – Most Valuable Poultry – of our hearts.
Through countless summers, you’ve been our high-flying hero, always there to remind us that baseball isn’t just a game—it’s a reason to flock together. Your antics on the sidelines made even the longest games fly by. You weren’t just our mascot; you were our clutch hitter in the bottom of the ninth, the rally bird that never quit.
As you retire to your well-earned roost, know that the nest you leave behind will never be quite the same. But just like a grand slam echoes through the stadium long after the play, your legacy will continue to inspire us. We will always remember the way you made us feel like we could soar alongside you.
So here’s to you, Swoop. May your retirement be as sweet as a walk-off win, filled with sunny skies, gentle breezes, and plenty of bird seed. You’ll always have a place in our hearts, and whenever we see a hawk soaring overhead, we’ll think of you—our feathered friend who made every game day unforgettable.
With love and thanks,
Your Devoted Flock at 1st Source Bank
